21st Century Learners
Today learner's are very tech minded, my two year old son is able to open apps on a iphone and knows how to play games on the computer and to skype family members. I think that the world is now being run with a variety of technology and that children are learning at a very early age. I am 35 and have started to get into technology more now, my children still have to help me at times!!
I feel that students can benefit from having technology in the classroom but there needs to be a balance so that all students can benefit as there are mant learning styles and not all students today demand technology in the classroom. As a teacher using technology can help you see what your learners know, monitor their progress and keep track of all of their strengths and weaknesses.
There is deffinately substance to the 'engage or enrage arguement' I notice in the classroom that there are students who want to put their hand up to answer all questions even if they are not sure of exactly what is being asked of them but know that they should contribute, rather then allowing other students to 'have a go'. There are students who you check on to see if they need help and they haven't even started but are just staring at a blank piece of paper and are not interested at all. Then there are the students who are able to understand what the task is and are able to complete it quickly and quietly and are self motivaed students.
